About Kisstopher

Hello, my name is Kisstopher Musick (she/her). I am an American-trained and qualified therapist/psychologist and hold a master's degree in psychology. I am formally trained in differential diagnosis, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Gestalt therapy, classical talk therapy, compassion focused therapy, developmental therapy, and speech pathology. I received a great deal of my training, prior to earning my master's degree, from Applied Behavioral Consultants, one of the leading behavioral modification companies in the United States. After working with Applied Behavioral Consultants, I opened a private practice in the United States. In 2009, I decided to complement my training and qualifications with a Master of Science in Psychology from Walden University, which I completed in 2011.

When I moved from California, USA, to Nagoya, Japan, in 2007 with my husband and son, I recognized that there was a profound need for qualified native English-speaking mental health care services. That's why I founded Adjustment Guidance. As the founding psychologist (therapist, counselor, coach, guide or whatever you prefer to call it) I have led Adjustment Guidance since 2009. Throughout my more than 20 years of experience I continue to enjoy great success helping individuals, couples, families, young adults and children thrive. I will work tirelessly to help you and your family thrive.

I passionately believe that everyone deserves to have more good days than bad, and I am dedicated to helping you achieve this. I am dedicated and diligent in my care. I will listen and do my very best to ensure that you feel seen, heard, and validated while guiding you in the work that needs to be done to overcome whatever obstacles or issues you may face. I believe that you deserve the opportunity to build the life you imagine.

I am a proud member of the Japanese Psychological Association (JPA) http://www.psych.or.jp/english, the Association of Black Psychologists (ABPsi) https://abpsi.site-ym.com/, and Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology http://www.psichi.org. I am a proud supporter of Stonewall Japan, an organization that provides support for the LGBTQIA+ community in Japan https://stonewalljapan.org. I follow the international ethics mandates and guidelines set forth by the governing body of the JPA.
